On Chocolate

Nancy’s Wacky Chocolate Cake

3 cups unsifted flour
2 cups sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 cup corn oil
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups water

In a 9″ x 13″ x 2″ baking pan, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, and baking soda. Measure corn oil, vinegar, and vanilla into a measuring cup. Pour it over flour mixture, and then pour on water on top. Mix it all until smooth. Bake at 350 F for 40 to 50 minutes or until the cake tests done.

(That’s right. No greasing the pan. No mixing in a bowl.)
